Sports & Recreation Committee of the Deaf organized the very first “Deaf Street Soccer Tournament” event on 3 April 2004 at Temasek Polytechnic. The aim of the event was to develop Deaf youths’ sports leadership skill, and enhance physical awareness and promote sports culture in the Deaf Community.

This very first competitive event since 1974, received an overwhelming response from the Deaf from all the walks of life. The turnout for the event was 84 participants. 5 teams in Under-18 category and 7 teams from Men Open category competed for the championship.

The spirit of courage and determination to succeed among the deaf players were in the air. The soccer boys donned their colours with pride by displaying their skills in front of their friends, supporters and guests.
