140 guests
turned up in full force at the Singapore Association for the
Deaf in the celebration of SRCDeaf’s 30th anniversary
at the dinner party. The guests witnessed the Flag Presentation
Ceremony for Deaflympics Games 2005 on 11 December 2004,
organised by SRCDeaf.
Six Deaf
bowlers and four officials stood on the stage for the national
anthem. The bowling captain, Ong Poh Cheng led his bowling team
and took an oath. Singapore Disability Sports Council presented
the national flag to the Team Manager, Dennis Tan.
Beginning
the celebration, SRCDeaf finally launched its first official
website which was put on the deaf world sports map. The past
activities throughout the whole year 2004 and the history of
1970s – 2000s were showcased on the large screen for twenty
minutes.
Our SRCD Chairman,
Dennis Tan and a soccer player, Ahmady turned themselves into
BBQ grillers! SRCD committee members volunteering as waiters,
serving barbequed food to guests by walking around the compound.
Walking down
the memory lane, Dennis Tan paid tribute to the three former
chairmen who were present at the party and saluted them for
their valuable contributions to SRCD in late 1990s. Each captain
of the sports club was invited to “boom” the wine bottles
together and celebrated together with everyone. Loud cheers
could be heard and felt around the surrounding!
Deaf Sports
Museum was established to spread messages about the history of
Sportsmen and Sportswomen excelling in the international level
as well as participation in local sports events. Over 100 old
photos and old newspaper articles were featured at the museum.
The guests flocked to the museum after the dinner party ended.
The exhibition at the museum brought pride to the whole Deaf
Community.
