Vrrroooommmmm...! Fighter planes streaked across the sky!!!
83
excited visitors from Sports and Recreation Committee of the
Deaf
were treated to a spectacular flying display at Asian Aerospace
2004 on the 29 February 2004.
Early in the
morning, they visited the first stop of the East tour, the Bedok
NEWater Plant. They watched a video presentation with English
subtitles specially for hearing-impaired visitors. It showed how
Singapore harnessed advances in technology to produce NEWater.
There were
games involving useful information about the history and future
of water usage in Singapore. The participants toured the factory, and
were briefed on how water was purified through a
stringent multi-barrier system and state-of-the-art technology
to produce NEWater.
Eventually,
we departed for the next and last stop of the East tour, Asian
Aerospace 2004 located at Changi Convention and Exhibition
Centre. Upon arrival, we went to the viewing gallery where the
aerial display could be seen. The loud sounds from the planes
in the sky caused some vibrations which even
the deaf participants could feel from the viewing gallery!
The most thrilling aircraft stunt in the sky was performed by
the “F-15 Strike Eagle” planes. This plane wowed the viewers
with their
speed, which was like a thunderbolt zooming past us! Another great
performance was by the Indian Aerobatics Team where nine planes
gave off three colourful smoky trails, soaring everywhere in the
sky. Two of the planes created a heart with two colourful smoke
trails in the sky!
The East
Tour was an enjoyable and fantastic outing for all the
participants. SRCDeaf would like to thank Reed Exhibitions for
sponsoring the outing.
