Erika Levi (second from right)
is the youngest Deaf athlete among sixteen Deaf
athletes. She was twelve years old and the youngest
swimmer in the Games. She bagged three medals and two
bronze medals.

Lai Khai Yip (extreme left) won a bronze medal
in the men’s 100m breaststroke event. The men’s relay
team of Sudali Hussein, Ken Lai Khai Yip, James Ong
Kay Chin and Richardo Irsyad Lachika bin Irfan brought
home three medals:

Tan Chor Hoo, Lim Teck Kee, Vincent Chong Ker Keong,
William Ang Meng Huat and Ong Poh Cheng did Singapore
proud by winning a silver medal in the men’s team of
five-bowler event.

Four Deaf athletes took part in Asia Pacific
Games for the Deaf 2000. Chua Debao, Soh Boon Sien, Wong Wai Kin
and Joseph Kwok participated in 200m, 800m and 4 X 100m events.
Although our track and field athletes did not win any medals, we
were nevertheless proud of their enthusiasm in representing the
nation!
