Asia Pacific Adventure Skills Workshop

SRCDeaf sent five participants - David Lee, Freddie Soh, Adrian Yap, Jane Ee and Dennis Tan - to the Asia Pacific Adventure Skills Workshop held in Singapore from 24 to 25 April 2004. SRCDeaf encouraged potential participants to develop the core skills needed to take part in the sport of Adventure Racing, the focus of which was on Mountain Biking, Rope-work, Kayaking, Orienteering, Strategy and Training. We also wanted to improve our skills in the various disciplines. We were really inspired by John Howard and especially Ian Adamson, two of the most experienced and legendary adventure racers in the world. We were grateful the SDSC for their support.

This course also helped David Lee and Freddie Soh to prepare well for the 24-hour Police Adventure Charity 2004 together with Christina Lee and interpreter Josephine on Saturday 29 May 2004. They took part in the events to help raise funds Singapore School for the Deaf and other three organizations. They were ex-SSD students proud to complete their adventure race. Their position was eleventh out of eighteenth. Let us applaud--wave our hands!--them for their tremendous effort.

And upcoming are two more events in June and July 2004 in which the four of us will compete.
